THE ISLAND OF JURA
Off the Scottish west coast, lies the Island of Jura, a magical place, where since 1810 an exceptional single malt whisky has been distilled. The island of Jura is splendid. Today, just as it was long ago. A store. A pub. A street. A malt distillery. A community of 175 people. A herd of 5,000 red reindeers. And palm trees! JURA, NATURE’S GIFT
Unlike the heavy and strongly smoky whiskies from the nearby Island of Islay, Jura is a single malt, delicate, sophisticated and round. The secret of its particular taste starts with the water and its source which feeds the distillery, and continues throughout distillation inside the high, elegant copper alambics able to give the whisky only the most refined characteristics. Distillation, however is only one part of the process. Thanks to a period of not less than 10 years of maturation, the soft sea breezes together with the humidity and temperate micro-climate of the Island, Jura is transformed and matures, until it emerges as a refined single malt Scotch Whisky, able to fully represent the Island, its land, water, climate and people.

The inhabitants of Jura are very superstitious, and among their many beliefs, is the idea that cutting peat before May could bring great misfortune. So, inspired by ancient myths which surround the vital peat lands which cover almost two-thirds of the Island, Jura’s Superstition is a unique single malt obtained from the union of two different styles: one is bold, strong and smoky, the other warm and delicate. To symbolize the importance of peat banks in the life of Island’s inhabitants, Jura Superstition carries in itself the cross of life, symbol of immortality and positive energy.
